Assalamualaikum and Hi!
For the last week of lecture, we presented to our respective lecturer and also class regarding our project proposal. As for my group, we proposed a project with a title "The Cleanliness and Usage of IIUM Gombak Cafes' Cutlery". We chose this issue because based on our observation, most cafes in IIUM Gombak provide a dirty cutlery that could affect students, staffs, and also the outsiders with contamination and food poisoning. Moreover, the excessive use of plastic cutlery is also worrying because the harm it could bring to the environment is beyond bad. For instance, it could increase plastic pollution, increase climate change and harm the marine life.
Moreover, this issue can be related to two Sustainable Development Goals which are Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being and also Goal 14: Life Below Water. We proposed several solutions that can help overcome this issue such as implementing a "Bring your own Cutlery" campaign, a talk session regarding the hygiene practice, media promotion to increase awareness, "No Cutlery Day" campaign and a friendly reminder which is an announcement to remind the students to wash their cutlery before eating.
Furthermore, by implementing all those solutions, we can lower the risk of getting contamination or taking a good care of our health and also reduce the number of plastic waste that could lead to various harms to the environment.
Hence, we are encouraged to take care of our health and also others in Islam because our body is a gift from Allah and we are being trust by Allah to take good care of it. Besides, we are prohibited from doing harm to the nature because Allah appointed us as the Khalifah on earth and if we do anything that can lead harms to the earth, we will be accountable later in the Hereafter.
