WEEK 1 - Introduction of Sustainable Development

Assalamualaikum and Hi!

During this first week of lecture, we are being exposed to the introduction of sustainable development. I gained knowledge on what is sustainable development and the three aspects that we need to concern about in sustainable development which are the environment, economic and social.  Moreover, we learned about the 5 dimensions of sustainable development which are people, planet, prosperity, peace, and partnership. Other than that, we are aware that there are 17 goals of sustainable development and there are divided into three pillars and one inclusive development.  

Regarding the response to the SD situation, we are asked about the condition of Maryam River at the Mahallah Maryam. It is related to Goal 6 Clean Water and Sanitization and Goal 14 Life Below Water. 

This introductory topic is important for us before learning SD deeper to avoid any wrong ideas regarding SD and also we can slowly apply it in our group project. 

Sustainable Development in Islam is common because we as Muslims, have been encouraged to take care of the earth as a trustee. Learning the introductory part is crucial before jumping on to the deeper part, following the sequence of seeking knowledge.
